Janet Frahm, 87, of Springfield, Mo., formally of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Burlington, peacefully passed away on Nov. 22, 2021. She was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Turlock, Calif. to John and Hazel (Cunningham) Peterson. She was the youngest of three siblings.
Janet married Harlan (Steve) Frahm on July 11, 1953 in California and then relocated to Burlington, where they established Frahm Construction Company and later Frahm Enterprises, a retail fireplace shop. Janet managed the accounting and administration for the two businesses.
Janet loved music and the arts and wanted to inspire others within her community. She founded the Forked River Chapter of Sweet Adeline’s and the Offspring’s, a youth chapter. She served as President for three terms and stayed very involved throughout the years. She taught piano lessons to children. She particularly loved barbershop harmonies.
Janet also founded the Burlington Area Arts Council and served as Vice President of Community Development for the Burlington Chamber of Commerce.
Janet and her husband retired to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. in 2002. After her husband’s death in 2015, she moved to Springfield, Mo. to be closer to family. Her last few years were spent at the Manor nursing home.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Peterson; Hazel’s third husband Tom Scott; Janet’s husband, Harlan (Steve) Frahm; step brother Bud Hawkins and step sister Loretta.
Janet is survived by son Curtis Frahm and wife Joyce, daughter Audrey Bottrell-Parks and husband Gary, granddaughter Amanda Bottrell, grandson Ryan and wife Phoebe, and great grandchildren Adeline, Amelia, Charlie and Finley Bottrell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held later in the spring of 2022 where both Janet and her late husband will finally be laid to rest together in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help support the caregivers and patients suffering from dementia.
