Joan R. Hobbick, 86, of Burlington, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021 at Pine Brook Pointe.
Joan was born in Chicago on July 15, 1934, to John and Hermance (nee Rambault) Barker. Her early life was spent in Chicago, where she graduated from Loretta Academy in 1952. She was a graduate of Realtors Institute in 1983. On Oct. 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ralph Hobbick at St. John the Baptist in Chicago. Following marriage, they made Burlington their home. She has been a resident of Burlington since 1955. Ralph preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2011.
Joan worked as a clerk secretary for Chicago Title and Trust from 1951 to 1952, Secretary of Public Relations for Illinois Central Railroad from 1951 to 1955, Electro Kold from 1961 to 1979. She was a realtor at Century 21, May’s, and then owner of Baker Hobbick Properties from 1993 until retirement in 1996. She taught junior bowling and ran team tournaments for Towne and Country Lanes from 1975 to 1990 and helped organize and was president of Southern Lakes Jr. Bowling Assoc. from 1977 to 1983. She served as secretary/treasurer of Western Racine County Board of Realtors and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was an avid golfer and bowler and loved to crochet and make her homemade greeting cards. She had a way about her, and was known to be feisty.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Cathleen Vos; grandson, Christopher (Natalie) Vos; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Casey and Carly. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, William and John; grandson, Bryan; and siblings, William Barker, Marie Adrian, Richard James, Robert Douglas and Constance Field.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4 until 7 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home.
