JOSEPH R. BARTOLO

Joseph R. “Joe” Bartolo, 87, of Burlington passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Joe was born March 1, 1934 to Giuseppe and Frances (nee Pavlisova) Bartolo in Racine. His early life was spent in Kansasville on the family farm. On Nov. 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to Patricia M. Bieneman at St. Mary Catholic Church in Burlington. For the past 65 years they have resided in Bohner’s Lake where they raised their family.

Joe worked as a tree trimmer, 42 years with Asplundh and operated his own business, Bartolo Tree Service. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a volunteer for the Town of Burlington Fire Department, retiring after serving 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served his country in the Army National Guard for nine years.

Above all, Joe treasured the time he spent with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. Doing all these activities with his wife, children and grandchildren made it very special. Joe and Pat enjoyed traveling to Wyoming and Florida.

Joe is survived by Pat, his loving wife of 65 years; children, Kathleen (Randy Wiswell) Gietzel of Burlington, Cheryl (Tim) Williams of Burlington, Jacqueline (Rick) Busch of Burlington, Cindy (Michael) Traughber of LaBarge, Wyo., and Timothy (Leann) Bartolo of Melbourne, Fla., 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Tom (Doris) Bieneman, Carol Fabian, Joyce Bieneman, Peter Bieneman, and Nancy (Sandy) Cowan; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary Lee; stepsisters: Alice Kessler and Helen Roraff; granddaughter Brianna; brother-in-law James Fabian, and sister-in-law Louann Bieneman.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Paul Taylor and his staff, and the Cardiac team at St. Luke’s Milwaukee for all their care and compassion at this difficult time.
