Leroy Mather, 84, of Neillsville, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at the House of the Dove Hospice Home in Marshfield.
Leroy Charles Mather was born on Sept. 12, 1937 in Burlington, to Charles John and Bernadette (King) Mather. He graduated from Burlington High School, and then worked on the family farm. On June 22, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Marie Bender in Burlington.
Leroy worked as a self-employed home improvement specialist for 40 years, retiring in June of 1999. He was a hard-working man, and he was proud of the homes he built for his family during that time. After retiring, he and Rosemary moved to Neillsville.
Leroy was a member of the Burlington Sno Snoopers for 40 years. His fondest memories were the trips they would take to Florida with family and friends in their motorhome. He loved taking nature walks and 4-wheeling in the woods. He also liked snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and mowing the grass.
Leroy was a loving husband and father and a friend to all. His greatest lesson in life was to work hard, treat everyone like family and remember to say, “I love you”.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosemary; children, Dawn (Tyler) Schlickman of Durand, Ill., Michael (Kristen) Mather of Hampton, N.H. and Timothy (Logan) Mather of Menomonie; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Reuterskoid, Jason Katzman, Cierra (Rudy) Evans, Cole Woolever, Lillianna Mather and Heinz Mather; siblings, Robert (Donna) Mather of Three Lakes, Jack (Sandy) Mather of Edgewood, Iowa, Ron Mather of Burlington, and Marlene Schilz of Lake Geneva.
