Marjorie A. Rein, 90, passed away May 19, 2021 at home after a medical illness.
Marjorie was born Sept. 26, 1930 to Joseph and Agnes Robers, a farm girl raised during the Great Depression, one of her first memories was getting an orange for a birthday present, her only birthday present, and not having to share it with one of her six siblings. She attended St. Alphonsus Grade School in New Munster. After finishing her education at St. Mary’s High School in Burlington, Marjorie was secretary to the President of Murphy Feed Products.
In May of 1952, before road trips and Interstate Highways were even a thing, Mom and three girlfriends got in a 1948 Chevy sedan and hit Route 66 bound for California. They survived a flat tire in North Platte, Neb. on their way to Lake Tahoe and the Grand Canyon, and saw California from San Diego to Monterrey; visiting friends along the way. A few years later she met the love of her life, Jack R. Rein, married, and made a home in Burlington. Six children followed, five under five years of age at one point, three in cloth diapers and safety pins. But her greatest challenge was still to come.
In 1966 the family moved north to East End Resort in Crivitz. Here, her silent determination and resiliency, her intelligence and kindness were put to the toughest test. She did not fail. In fact, the family thrived. She passed on her strength and knowledge in ways we, at the time, could hardly know or understand. If a mother’s body of work is measured by the success of her children and grandchildren, she can lay claim to dozens of advanced degrees and successful careers in her wake. If it is measured in the love held in the hearts of those same, it is beyond measure. In retirement, Marjorie wanted to be nowhere else but the shores of Lake Noquebay, sitting on the porch, reading or just looking across the placid water. Her spirit lives on in that place, and in the six children, twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren who are her true legacy.
Marjorie was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey A. Rein and Michael R. Rein; sisters Dorothy Robers and Romaine (Earl) Wilfert; brothers Herbert (Lillian) Robers and Claude (Phyllis) Robers; and parents Joseph and Agnes Robers.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Jack R. Rein; sons, Arthur (Barbara), Jack (Cynthia), and William (Barbara); daughter Lisa (Gary) Kotecki; along with the aforementioned grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Church in Wausaukee at 11 a.m. on June 14, 2021. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. preceding. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Pine Hill Cemetery in Middle Inlet.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their care and support during Mom’s final days.
