Patricia A. Wegge, 88, lifelong resident of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, at Oak Park Place.
Patricia was born June 22, 1933, to Ray and Lucille (nee McCormack) McDonald. On Oct. 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Russell Wegge at St. Charles Church.
Patricia was the co-founder of Burlington Camping Service, which started from crazy, fun camping trips with her and Russ’s young family. She enjoyed riding horses, particularly her horse, Tonka. She loved dancing, gardening and being a part of The Jayco Big Bird camping club. She was a fantastic cook, especially her traditional prime rib dinners on Christmas Eve with her family.
Patricia was a previous member and a past president of The Burlington Lioness Club. For many years she spent the winters in Florida with her husband and many friends enjoying her water aerobics, sunshine, the beauty of the ocean, and being at the beach. Many of the families’ fondest memories are of spending vacations with them at their home in Florida. But the most special times for Pat were always those spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved dog Buffy.
Patricia is survived by her husband Russ; children, Patrick Wegge, Michael Wegge, Diane (Steve) Schiller, Tim (Brenda) Wegge, and Tom (Anne) Wegge; grandchildren, Katie (Tom) Kull, Sarah (Adam) Quackenboss, Haley Schiller, Alec Wegge, Connor Wegge, Paige Wegge, and Hope Wegge; and great-grandchildren, Lilly and Hazel Quackenboss. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Ann Wegge, and sister Mary Howe.
The family would like to thank Dr. Webber, the caring and loving staff at Oak Park Place, and Kindred Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church.
A Mass of Christian burial for Patricia will be held on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church. A private burial will be held at a later date.
