William Dial Delahoyde, 70, of Raleigh, N. C., left to be with the Lord on May 27, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Melinda; sons, Will and Ben (Lauren); granddaughters, Audrey and Chandler; daughters, Maggie and Abby; and sisters, Louise, Susan and Patty. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim.
Bill was the third child of Earl Eugene and Audrey Delahoyde. He was the first baby born in Burlington in 1951. He was a loving son and brother to his siblings.
Bill graduated from Burlington High School class of 1969. He enjoyed playing golf and quarterback for the mighty Demons. He was very glad that BHS offered Latin instruction that served him well throughout his professional life.
Bill earned his BA from UW-Madison in Philosophy, his MDiv from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill. and his law degree from Northwestern Law School in Chicago.
In 1984 Bill and Melinda and son Will moved to Raleigh, N.C. where he served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina. He left in 1997 to start the Del Group and continued in the practice of law. In his later years, he continued to practice law in private practice.
Bill served his life with a deep passion for God, his family, devoting much time and effort towards Christian Education. He was a founding member of Trinity Academy of Raleigh. He served on several boards, including that of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N. C. He served as an Associate Professor of Religion and Law at Southeastern.
In recent years, Bill returned often to visit Burlington. His primary goal was to play golf with good friends at Browns Lake Golf Course. His daughters often joined him in trips to Green Bay to enjoy a Packer Game.
A celebration time will be held at The Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 5 p.m. Please join hosts Louise Delahoyde, and Bob and Pat Sullivan to share stories and times with Bill.
