Bridget M. Nice, 87, of Burlington, passed away July 24, 2022, at Oak Park Place.
Bridget was born on Nov. 16, 1934 in Stevens Point to Thomas and Stella (Parry) McLoughlin. Growing up in Point, she attended St. Joseph’s Academy School then went on to attend Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. There she received her Bachelor of Arts in Art Education. While home one summer break, she met Donald H. Nice from Portage. A courtship began and many love letters later Don married Bridget on Aug. 10, 1957. Soon, thereafter, they began their family.
After lovingly raising her five children, Bridget began her teaching career at Wheatland Center School just south of Burlington. She taught art from 1972 until 1998. In the summer of 1987, Bridget began taking classes at UW Whitewater and continued summer classes for the next five years. In Aug. of 1992, she received her Master Degree in Art. Bridget enjoyed being an art teacher and touched the lives of many students throughout her career. She spent her retirement years enjoying her summers up at the family cabin with her children, grandchildren and friends. She also enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and gallivanting around to flea markets and rummage sales with her friend Ruth. They called themselves “Guts and Glory”.
Bridget is survived by her children; Michael (Jenifer) Nice of Burlington, Barbara Nice of Madison, Donna (Bill) Howell of Union Grove, Remy Jo Nice (John Wacker) of Rochester and Debra Nice of Dane; and her grandchildren, Melissa, Alex and Rachel Nice, Christopher, Hope, Faith and Emma Howell, Jordan Allen and David Tischer.
Bridget was preceded in death by her husband Don, son Christopher, her parents and two sisters.
