CARL E. VOS

      Carl E. Vos, 83, of the town of Wheatland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022 at Geneva Lake Manor.

Carl was born in Burlington on Jan. 30, 1938, to Hugo and Grace (nee Kerkman) Vos. He was a lifetime resident of the Burlington area.

Carl graduated from St. Mary High School. After high school he attended diesel mechanic school in Moline, Ill. On May 30, 1964, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Holtyn at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Following their marriage, they resided in Burlington where Carl worked on the family farm and raised his family. He carried on the family tradition and was the fifth generation on the Vos family farm.

Carl was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a member of the Studebaker Club and a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting around the farm and watching car racing. He enjoyed fixing tractors and was passionate about a clean running engine. He looked forward to winter so he could work on his tractors. He loved to dance, especially polkas and it was at Muskego Beach Dance Club where he met Mary Ann. Carl served his country in the U.S. Army.

Carl is survived by his children, Judith (Pat) Pieters, Linda (Brian) Tenhagen, Carol Vos and Susan (Ron) Schneider; grandchildren Veronica and Michael Tenhagen; step-grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Nolan, Robert (Laura) Pieters and Sarah (R.A.) Kordus; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Doris Daniels; siblings-in-law Gloria Siepel, James Holtyn, Rose A. Vos, and Rita Vos; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, Don Vos, Bob (Sue) Vos, Art Vos, Leon (Rita) Vos, Germaine (Dick) Eisenbart and Rose Mary (Norm) Schultz.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial be made to Wheatland Fire Department or St. Mary Catholic Church.

Carl’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Touching Hearts Home Care, Aging and Disability Resources of Racine County, doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Luke’s, Milwaukee, Aurora Burlington and the staff at Geneva Lake Manor Hospice for all their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow service at St. Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, from 2 until 5 p.m. at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home.

A celebration of Carl’s life will take place this summer at the Vos Family Farm, date and time to be determined.
