Carol A. Boettcher, 86, of Waterford, passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022. Carol was born on March 6, 1935, to the late Howard and Helen (nee Hegeman) Gilson. She graduated from Racine County Ag School and later received her B.S. in Dietetics at Stout State College (now UW Stout).
On July 24, 1958, Carol married Donald F. Boettcher at St. Thomas Parsonage in Waterford. In 1967, they built their home on Apple Road, where they resided for the next 55 years.
Carol was an avid horsewoman in her early years, participating with her horse, Beanie. After college, she had a busy career as a registered dietician for 33 years, working at various facilities in Racine and Milwaukee counties, including Wisconsin Southern Colony, Mount Carmel, St. Mary’s Medical Center, St. Luke’s Hospital and Highridge Nursing Home. In addition to her busy career, she was a leader for 4-H cooking and enjoyed gardening, quilting, floral arranging and painting.
After retirement, Carol stayed active working various part time positions, including the Pharmacy Station in Waterford. She enjoyed cribbage, hearts, and a good game of scrabble with her husband and daughters.
Carol is survived by her husband, Don; daughters, Kathy, Christine, Connie (Rex) Newton, Joan (William) Young, and Susan; grandsons, Grant Newton and Jacob Young; granddaughter, Talia Newton; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred (James) Baker, Mary (Gilbert) Faltinson, and Jean Gilson.
Carol’s final resting place will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery, Waterford. Per her wishes, no memorial service will be held at this time.
