Daniel A. Bates, 94, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.
Daniel was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 6, 1927, to Anthony Batogowski and Sabina Karpinski Bates. He served in the US Navy and on May 1, 1954 in Oshkosh, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Girens. Following marriage, they resided in Neenah for 18 months, Milwaukee for 38 years and Burlington for 30 years.
Daniel was a printer and owner of Advertoprint, Inc. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Milwaukee and St. Mary Catholic Church in Burlington. He enjoyed golfing and he was a hobbyist who worked with wood and electrical items.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; children, Mary (Denis) Repke and Judson (Arlene) Bates; grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Bates, Adriana Bates, Thornton Bates and Gunnarsson Bates; and sisters, Patricia Borchardt and Barbara (Daniel) Casey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Lillian Karpinski and brother-in-law James Borchardt.
