Harold J. Otter, 88, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at Holton Manor in Elkhorn.
Harold was born in Dodgeville on July 11, 1934, to George and Hattie (nee Leffler) Otter. His early life was spent in Dodgeville, where he graduated from area schools. He also served in the 101st Airborne in the US Army. On Feb. 7, 1959, in Dodgeville, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Holmes. Following marriage, they lived in Madison and Iowa before moving to Burlington. They have been residents of Burlington since 1968. Evelyn preceded him in death in 1993.
Harold was a road salesman for International Harvester and member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He owned and operated Otter Sales and Service and was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
Harold is survived by his companion of many years, Kathleen Kramer; children, Kurt (Jeanne) Otter and Brad (Jean) Otter; grandchildren, Rachel (Todd) McTavish, Lauren Otter, Lance Otter, Jake (Rachel) Otter, Mitch (Mackenzie Schneider) Otter, Nick (Lauren) Otter and Grant Otter; great-grandchildren, Presley and Evelyn; and brother, Virgil Otter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, Robert Otter, Doris Ripp, and Jackie Otter.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Webber and the nurses and staff at both Holton Manor and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burlington Youth Wrestling.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at noon at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home.
