James C. Fonk, 49, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, in Burlington. He was born May 8, 1972, to Erwin and Judith (nee Mainus) Fonk in Waukesha. His early life was spent in Burlington where he attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School. He earned an Associate Degree from Waukesha Technical College. He was a lifetime resident of the Burlington area. He owned and operated a Cornwell Tool Franchise selling tools.
James was gifted with musical talent. He loved playing and producing music in his very own music studio at his home. He also enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing, and touring Honey Creek in his Jon Boat. James was very attached to his dog Renton and enjoyed the time spent with him. He loved to cook and was considered the “Grill Master”. He always had a joke and a smile and you never left his house without having had a full glass and a good meal. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends. He is gone to soon but will never be forgotten.
James is survived by his brother Peter; nephew Austin (Tasha); niece Caitlin; great- nephew Liam; great-niece Piper; aunts Noelle (Kevin) Booth and Ellen Brenton; uncle John “Jack” Fonk; cousins, Rob (Carla) Brenton, Ed (Katie) Brenton, Dan (Nicki) Brenton, Bill Booth, Joe Booth and Tom Booth; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his dad Bill; mothers Judy, Gail and Karen; and uncle John Brenton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022 at 10 a.m.
