James F. Koenen, 78, of Burlington, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at The Bay at Burlington.
James was born in Burlington on Oct. 6, 1944, to Andrew and Margaret (nee Huff) Koenen. He graduated from St. Charles Grade School, St. Mary High School and Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He was a life-long resident of Burlington.
James retired in 1982 as an engineer from Milwaukee County Expressway Commission. He worked for the Hi-Liter from 1983 until 2006. He enjoyed going out to Richard Bong Recreation Area with a book or to hike the trails. He enjoyed his collection of CD’s, watching the Packers and Brewers and going with his friends to Potowatomi Casino. He enjoyed all music, especially guitar music and going to different concerts. He was also a passionate photographer.
James is survived by his siblings, Marilynn (William) Bieneman, Richard (Jean) Koenen, Carol (Thomas) Hubbard and Gerald (Madeline) Koenen; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bay at Burlington and Aurora Home Hospice, for their care and compassion during this time.
