On June 6, 2022, Jeffrey W. Schauer entered his heavenly home into God’s waiting arms, at the young age of 65.
Jeff was born on May 24, 1957, in the Village of Union Grove to William and Marlene (nee Schuster) Schauer. Graduating from Union Grove High School in 1975, he then attended Gateway Technical College earning an associate degree in Business.
Jeff grew up working with his dad, William, learning the ins and outs of running the family businesses. At the time, those businesses consisted of Schauer Equipment Company, the Surge Dairy Equipment dealership and the newly established Schauer Enterprises, which sold lawn and garden equipment in the summer and powersport equipment in the rapidly growing snowmobile industry in the winter.
Shortly after Jeff graduated high school, the family expanded into a new endeavor, a liquor store called Schauer’s Party Shop. When you grow up in family businesses, you wear a lot of hats, so while attending Gateway he was also charged with being the General Manager of the Party Shop, which he did with great success.
Jeff had a love for horsepower. It started in high school with a modified Dodge Duster that he cruised throughout Racine County, and soon expanded into snowmobile racing with the help of the family’s dealership. The love of snowmobile racing took hold and Jeff embarked on a long and storied racing career, working with and for some of the biggest names in the industry. Along the way he accumulated many lifelong friends who shared his love for racing. Over the years, he became well known as one of the top performance engine builders in the Midwest, eventually starting his own performance shop.
After a short stint away from the family businesses, Jeff came back to become the general manager of the powersport business, eventually purchasing the business from his dad and renaming it to what it is known as today, Schauer Power Center. Over the years, he successfully navigated so many obstacles, while representing some of the top brands in the recreational vehicle industry, and today being one of the most successful Polaris dealerships in the state.
Jeff is survived by his mother Marlene; sister Pamela Fesko; brother Daniel (Denise) Schauer; nephews Michael (Kristina) Fesko, Jacob (Brooke) Fesko, and Joseph Schauer; niece Allison Schauer; and girlfriend, Tess Hilt. Jeff was preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Schauer.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 18, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1610 S. Main St., Union Grove. Visitation is from 9 until 10:45 a.m. with a Funeral service at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Union Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please offer a donation to St Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Grove SnoHawk Snowmobile Club.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeff’s girlfriend Tess for her love of Jeff over the last four years, especially the last couple months. Also, thank you, to everyone who kept Jeff in their prayers.
