Lynn Hillen, 89, passed away April 16, 2022, at Oak Park Place in Burlington.
Lynn was born on March 5, 1933 to Cecil R. and Edith M. (nee Gorenflo) Womble in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She went to college at the University of Tennessee, where she met the love of her life, Earl Hillen. They dated long distance while he served overseas in the Korean War, and when he was out of the service, they married on April 10, 1954. They had two daughters, Karen Leigh Hillen and Kimberly Ellen Hillen, and spent much of their lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Lynn was a full-time homemaker, and enjoyed knitting, reading, attending her daughters’ swim meets, and spending time with the Lord. She loved Sudokus, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, and doing anything and everything with Earl, her best friend and lifelong partner. Their love for each other throughout their 61-year marriage was a quiet inspiration to everyone who knew them.
Lynn is survived by her daughters Karen (Geoff) Staursky and Kimberly (John) Fitzgerald; eight beloved grandchildren, Anna, Joe (Audrey), Leah, Sean (Karen), Ryan (Hannah), Kellyanne (Mark), Kristine, and Kathleen; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Reeve, Henry, and Maisie.
She is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Edith, and her beloved husband Earl Hillen.
A funeral will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Community Church, 455 S. Jefferson St., Waterford. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., with service to follow. In lieu of flowers Lynn has requested any donations be given to the Waterford Community Church for use of the Way to Grow Preschool, or to the charity of your choice.
