MARGIE A. SCHOENBERG

Margie A. Schoenberg, 91, of Burlington passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Margie was born May 11, 1931 to Peter and Sophia (nee Mikula) Hefty in Burlington. Her early life was spent in Burlington where she attended Burlington High School. On Aug. 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to Howard J. Schoenberg at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons. Following their marriage, they resided in Lyons where they raised their family. Howard passed away Sept. 3, 2010.

Margie was a homemaker but also worked as a waitress and hostess at the Cottonpicker for many years. Her greatest love and passion were her family. They meant the world to her. She loved hosting family gatherings and was known for her great desserts. She was an amazing baker and would make everyone’s special birthday cakes.   More than anything, she loved watching the grandchildren and treasured the time she had with them reading and drawing pictures. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing cards. When outdoors, she also enjoyed fishing.

Margie is survived by her children, Connie (Jeff) Mullenbach, Linda Vanstone, Mike Schoenberg and Vicki (Jeff) Ranker; grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson, Brandi Tipton, Mark Rothering, Nick Rothering, Dave Rothering, Christopher Ranker and Noah Ranker; great-grandchildren, Dylan Peterson, Alex Peterson, Ryan Johnson, Loren Tipton, Alexa Rothering, Logan Rothering, Alora Rothering, Ada Rothering, Helena Rothering, and Atlas Rothering; brother Jerry Hefty, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Margie’s family has suggested that memorials be made to Aurora At Home Hospice in honor of her.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Aurora at Home Hospice, Dr Twardy, Dr Welka and Dr Niazi for all their care and compassion.
