Mary E. Phetteplace, 88, formerly of Rochester, passed away at Oak Park Place in Burlington on March 28th, 2022.
Mary was born Sept. 23, 1933, to Kenneth and Evelyn Wienke. She graduated from Racine County Agricultural School in 1951 and later that year married the love of her life, Paul Phetteplace. Mary and Paul were inseparable for over 65 wonderful years until Paul’s death on Feb. 11, 2017. They raised five children and lovingly remembered two children, Beth and Mark, who passed away shortly after birth.
Mary was a member of English Settlement United Methodist Church. She retired from Edstorm Industries in Waterford after working there many years. She loved the ocean and traveling. In retirement Mary and Paul enjoyed many cruises and trips with their children and grandchildren.
Mary will be dearly missed by her children Dawn (Patrick) Schumacher, Ken (Beth) Phetteplace, Joy (Steven) Ignasiak, Patricia (John) Pfitzenmeier and Michael (Julie) Phetteplace; as well as 14 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and her sister Barb (Leo) Moss. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul; children Beth and Mark Phetteplace; parents Ken and Evelyn Wienke, as well as her granddaughter Stephanie Ignasiak.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Friday, April 22nd, 2022, at Integrity Celebration Center, 2789 Browns Lake Dr., Burlington. Visitation will be from1 until 2:30 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following. Officiating the service will be Pastor Ebenezer Insor of English Settlement Methodist Church. A time of fellowship will follow. A private burial will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
