MICHAEL D. IVERSON

Michael Duane Iverson, 70, of Tichigan, died peacefully in his home, Nov. 9, 2022.

Michael was born on Jan. 8, 1952, in Muskego, to the late Edward and Pearl (nee Velie) Iverson. He was raised on Long Lake and attended Waterford Union High School before entering military service. He married Valerie Schmidt on Valentine’s Day in 1976. Together, they made their forever home along the banks of the Fox River, creating 46 years of memories with four children and four grandchildren.

Michael was a decorated and proud Vietnam Veteran. He served as a combat medic, assigned to the U.S. Army Americal Division. His Tour of Duty was from 1969-70 with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment of the 11th Brigade. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, two with valor: three Purple Hearts, and other military awards. After his service, he worked as a carpenter contractor, doing business as Mike Iverson Construction. He later earned his Wisconsin real estate license and opened Tichigan Lake Realty. He was a proud member of the Wisconsin Vietnam Veterans Chapter Two, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Wisconsin Realtors Association.

Michael was known by those who loved him as “Big Mike”. He will be deeply missed. He enjoyed life to the fullest on the Fox River, boating, fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren. As an avid outdoorsman, he taught many who loved him the art of fishing and deer hunting. He loved to spend time at his cabin in Black River Falls.

He had a passion for serving his fellow Vietnam Veterans. For many years, he would annually bring veterans from the Milwaukee VA Hospital to Tichigan, for a fishing day on the lake.

Michael is survived by his wife Valeria; children, Jennifer (Robert) Beaudry, Luke (Heather) Iverson, Sam Iverson and Matt Iverson; and grandchildren; Melanie, Isabella, Colton and Dylan.
