Nan R. Wilson, 99, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Oak Park Place, in Burlington.
Nan was born in Hinkley, Illinois on May 3, 1923, to Sam and Ruth (nee Hubbard) Evans. She lived in Hinkley until age 14, when she moved to Chicago. She graduated from high school in Chicago and went on to attend DePaul University.
On May 20, 1950 in Rockford, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Stanley Wilson. Following marriage, they made Elkhorn their home. Stan preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1998.
Nan and her husband owned and operated Burlington Cleaners for 50 years. She enjoyed going up north to her cabin and spending time with her family. To know Nan was to acknowledge her immense life force, engaging wit, and classic beauty. She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten, as her fiery personality and unwavering loyalty will provide stories for generations to come.
Nan is survived by her daughter, Connie Wilson; grandchildren, Emily (Daniel) Duchon and Sam Scherrer; and great-grandsons, Elliot and Arch Duchon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stan; grandson, Benjamin Scherrer; and sister, Helen Campbell of Chatanooga, Tennessee.
The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Park Place for their care and compassion during this time, with special thanks to Tori, Cheryl, and Darcey.
No services will be held at this time. A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date by invitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burlington Methodist Church.
