Richard “Dick” P. Shecterle, 94, of Burlington, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 at Oak Park Place.
Dick was born in Milwaukee, on Oct. 25, 1927, to Richard and Marie (nee Lamancik) Shecterle. His early life was spent in Milwaukee, where he graduated from Whitefish Bay High School and attended Spencerian College. Before college, he served in the US Army in the Medical Corps during WW2. On June 28, 1952 in Waterford, he was united in marriage to Joan Alby.
Dick worked in inventory control for Shadbolt & Boyd. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington, Burlington Lodge 28, Order Eastern Star #153, York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite, Tri County Shrine, Hillbilly Badgerclan #50, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Effendi Grato M.O.V.P.E.R. and Waterford Lions Club. He enjoyed reading westerns and making wooden toys in his shop. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Joan; children, James (Brenda) Shecterle of Rochester, Jack (LeAnn) Shecterle of Rochester and Jill (Marvin) Holst of Waterford; grandchildren, Wayne, Sondra, Jeremy, Carri, Jamie, Niki, Teresa, Travis and Breana; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Lois) Shecterle. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Norman Shecterle, and infant sister Caroline.
Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Burlington Lodge 28.
