Robert William Wagner, 87, died March 4, 2022.
Robert was born in Burlington on April 12, 1934 to Elizabeth (nee Heintskill) and Robert Louis Wagner. He was the oldest of the seven Wagner children. He attended Saint Charles Grade School and Saint Mary’s High School. In 1955, he married Elaine Mary Herban at Saint Thomas Aquinas church in Waterford.
In 1965, Robert moved to North Miami Beach, Florida, where he worked for Astor Electronics and Sheffield Industries where he was a plant manager. In later years, he relocated to Port Saint Lucie, Florida, where he was employed by Hilton Hotels.
Upon retirement, Robert spent many happy days in Murphy, North Carolina where he built a vacation home, and in Coconut Creek, Florida. Along with his sense of humor, he remained a mid-western boy at heart and talked fondly of his memories of growing up in Burlington. He was a talented woodworker, building furniture, dollhouses, and Christmas crèches that he donated to various causes and individuals.
Robert is survived by his wife Elaine Wagner; daughters Mary Elizabeth (Gary) Spulak of Coral Springs, Florida and Dianne Wagner of Coconut Creek, Florida; grandsons Matthew Thomas Spulak and Douglas Robert (Tiffany) Spulak; and great-grandson Noah Spulak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Richard Wagner and James Wagner.
