Rosemary Marie Mather, 83, of Neillsville, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at her home.
Rosemary was born on Feb. 18, 1939, in Burlington, to Sylvester and Frances (Flemming) Bender. She began working at the age of 11 for $0.25 an hour, babysitting and checking at the local IGA store. On June 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Leroy Mather in Burlington. Rosie then stayed at home to raise her family.
Rosie loved volunteer work and was a member of the Pink Ladies in Burlington and Neillsville. She enjoyed doing hair and nails at hospitals and nursing homes. They moved to Neillsville in 1999, where she continued to volunteer. Rosie also enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, bowling, snowmobiling, playing cards, hosting parties, hog roasts, eating sweet corn, spending time with family and fishing competitions, where she earned a plaque for the biggest walleye.
Rosie is survived by her children, Dawn (Tyler) Schlickman of Durand, Illinois, Michael (Kristen) Mather of Hampton, New Hampshire, and Timothy (Logan) Mather of Menomonie; six grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Reuterskoid, Jason Katzman, Cierra (Rudy) Evans, Cole Woolever, Lillianna Mather and Heinz Mather; and siblings, Kathleen (Gordie) Wells of Neillsville, and William John Bender of Neillsville.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, and sister, Sally Kuchenbach.
Funeral Services for Rosie will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon Bjerke, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Gesche Funeral Home. Following the service, a light luncheon will be held at Schmitty’s On Main, 436 Hewett Street, Neillsville.
