Dean Anderson, 62, passed away Sunday, March 12 in Green Bay.
Dean was born Nov. 16, 1960 in Burlington. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Burlington High School, class of 1978. He attended UW Madison, graduating in 1982.
From playing in bands in high school and college, to making popular dance records in the 1980’s, to composing music for television in the 1990’s and beyond, writing music was a lifelong dedication.
After graduating from college, Dean moved to Chicago and engaged with the local music industry. He was signed by Trax Records and went to work churning out popular music in the 1980’s that played regularly in dance clubs nationwide. His song, “Hey Rocky” was a big hit in the Chicago market and garnered airplay worldwide. He composed music for television shows such as, “Law and Order,” “The Mentalist,” “Chicago Fire,” “The Office,” “Pawn Stars,” “Smallville,” “Bernie Mac Show” and many others, worldwide.
His astute creative skills also included editing music videos in the 90’s for popular bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Public Enemy, Ministry, Skid Row, Sound Garden and many, many more.
He also worked for the Oprah Winfrey Show, in the music, sound and post-production department, for over 17 years.
Dean was a loving father and brother who will be deeply missed. His light and glow will be forever embraced.
Dean is survived by his son Damek; brothers, Don and Dave (Elvira); sisters Debbie Obenauf, Donna Ryan and Diane Anderson; beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dolores; a niece and a nephew.
