Donald “Don” Schaefer, of Lyons, passed away at home peacefully on Dec. 18, 2023. He was born on Aug. 16, 1934, and passed away at the age of 89.
Don is survived by his children, Cyndie (Joe) Clausen, Scott (Michelle) Schaefer, Brad “Whitey” Schaefer and Erika (Jim) Miller; son-in-law, Eric Arneson; sister-in-law, Madeline Schaefer; grandchildren, Travis Schaefer, Erin Schaefer, Mary (Scott) Jacewicz-O’Kelly, Chad Clausen, and Chelsea (Mike) Schultz; and great-grandchildren, Maddeline and Maebel Clausen, Cassidy, Isabella and Chase Schultz, and Parker Picarel.
Don was preceded in death by parents, Herbert “Herbie” and Eleanor (nee Scully) Schaefer; siblings, Richard “Dick” (Betty) Schaefer, Monica (Quirin) Klink, William “Bill” Schaefer and Joseph “Joe” Schaefer; and daughter Debora “Debbie” Schaefer.
Visitation will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 from 9:30 until 10:50 a.m. Mass at the church will begin at 11 a.m. and be followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
There will be a gathering at Ye Old Hotel in Lyons following the burial.
