Harold “Skip” C. Boulden, 88, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington.
Born to Harold and Alice (nee Ziebell) Boulden in Burlington on Dec. 25, 1934, he attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School. On Aug. 3, 1963, he was united in marriage to Marie Lois at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Skip proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1957 and was a life-long resident of Burlington.
After serving his country, Skip came back to Burlington and worked as a heavy equipment operator at J.W. Peters for 40 years. He was a life-long member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of Buck Trail Archers and Burlington Conservation Club and coached Minor and Little League Baseball.
Spending time with his sons and grandchildren hunting and fishing were the highlight of Skip’s life. Spending time with his grandchildren couldn’t be often enough. Just being together with family was his most enjoyable memory along with spending time up north.
Skip is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie; sons, Jim (Sue) of Watertown, Jeffrey (Susie) of Lewiston, Idaho, and Drs. Thomas (Jill) of Tomah; grandchildren, Alison, Eric, Nathan, Abbie, Sarah, Heather, Hannah, Kevin, Josh, Andrew, Zachary, Rachel and Eva; great-grandchildren, Violet, Asher, Bayler, Gracie, McKenna, Myles and Kylie; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Robert (Lenore) Boulden, Fred Boulden, Donald (Ginny) Boulden and Shirley Boulden Smith; and nephews Chad Boulden and Skipper Smith.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice, especially Liz and Jen, for their care and compassion during this time. The family would also like to extend a very special thanks to our family that selflessly helped Skip and Marie recently.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Skip will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25 at St. Mary Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until Noon at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial for Skip will follow Mass at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
