JANET M. KLAWES

      Janet M. Klawes, 85, of Caldwell, passed away at her home on June 11, 2023. Janet was born on Nov. 6, 1937 in Postville, Iowa, to Harvey and Charlotte (Witt) Schave. Her family moved to Janesville, where she grew up and attended school.

Janet married Lawrence R. Klawes on Oct. 15, 1955 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Janesville. The family moved to Kenosha and later settled in Burlington, where they resided for many years. In addition to being a homemaker, Janet babysat many children thru the years and the children she babysat for were treated as extended family. She was known in the area as “The Babysitter.” In 2012, Janet and Lawrence moved to Caldwell. Lawrence passed away on Nov. 11, 2016.

Janet is survived by daughters Lori (Darwin) Pahl, Patti (Tom) Clarey and Cindy Klawes; grandchildren Bradley (Sheryl) Klawes, Peter Jalensky, Kristina (Joshua) Dunn, Ashley (Jesse) Stewart, Joseph (Jayme) Clarey, Jessica Clarey, Jon (Deidra) Pahl and Meranda Pahl; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Brody, Grace, Jennifer, Harold, Collin, Savannah and Nicholas; great-great grandson, Will; sister, Karen King; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virginia Carpenter, Susan Klawes, Daniel and Barb Peplinski, Randy and Darlis Klawes, Lucy Klawes, Ruthann and Roger O’Day, Gordon Klawes and Neale LeMense; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband; parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; sisters Arlene LeMense and Connie Schave; brothers David Schaffe, Roger Schave and Arthur Schave; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, John King, Allen Klawes, Bonnie Tirado, William Klawes, Dennis Klawes and David Klawes.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Caldwell United Methodist Chursh, 8504 Caldwell Road, Mukwonago.
