Janice K. Barkei passed away on Feb. 5, 2023 at her home in East Troy. Jan was born in Chicago on July 25, 1945, to Antonio and Edith Castrale.
Janice is survived by her husband, David, of East Troy; two sons, James (Jennifer) and Kurt (Erica); two grandchildren, Liesel and Gianni; sister Donna Kadrowicz, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jan excelled in a career as a Registered Nurse having graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School in Chicago and practicing care at several hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin, including Waukesha, Oconomowoc, and Froedtert hospital in Milwaukee. Family and friends hold memories of Jan as a phenomenal cook with a passion for baking, an avid reader, a patron of the arts and theater, a hiker with sincere admiration of nature’s splendor, and an insatiable traveling spirit.
St. Peter’s Church in East Troy will host services for Jan on Feb. 11, 2023 with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
