Leona E. Morris, 94, of Burlington, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, at Pine Brook Pointe.
Leona was born in Burlington on Dec. 19, 1928, to Henry and Dora (nee Rueter) Essman. Her early life was spent in Burlington, where she graduated from St. Mary High School, Class of 1948. On Nov. 7, 1973, she was united in marriage to George Morris. They lived in Plymouth from 1975 until she returned to Burlington in 2011. George preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.
Leona worked in the office for Great Lakes Cheese and was a very active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. She was a current member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Burlington. She was an avid reader and loved word search puzzles. She was also an avid Brewer and Packer fan.
Leona is survived by her children, Kathy Andrews, Thomas Neuhoff, Judy Berenz, Dan (Dottie) Neuhoff and Barbara Goins; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; niece and special caretaker, Karen Bauman; along with many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Joe Essman and Helen Steinhoff Barnard.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Brook Pointe and the nurses of Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care of Leona.

Mass of Christian Burial for Leona will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Parish Cemetery. A gathering to celebrate Leona’s life will take place at Bubba’s Brickyard from noon until 3 p.m.
