Lorraine Estelle “Lorrie” Janette, 93, was born into eternal life Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at her residence. She was born in South Milwaukee, on March 21, 1929, to Harold and Marie (nee Luedtke) Welbes.
Lorrie graduated from South Milwaukee High School “Class of 1947”, Normal Teachers College and University of Wisconsin – Parkside. On June 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to John T. Janette, and they were blessed with two children, Mary and Mark. Lorrie was employed at Burlington Catholic School (St. Mary’s Grade School) for 17 years retiring in 1995. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed being a member of the Chlorine Queens from the Aurora Wellness Center. She will be remembered for her giving spirit and her love of family and friends. Above all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Lorrie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Katie Janette; grandsons, Alexander and Joseph Janette; sister, Nancy (Kenneth) Tangen; in-laws, Jim (Gerry) Janette; nieces and nephews, Chris (Linda) Ohm, Tom Ohm, Matt (Janet) Ohm, Susan (Jim) Bathey, Carolyn (Phillip Ryan) Janette and Diane (Doug) DeRosa, Sharon Blattner-Held; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Janette; children, Mary and Mark; sisters, Betty (Bob) Ohm, Edith Held; brother-in-law, Fr. Paul Janette; niece, Maribeth Ohm; and nephew, James Held.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 McHenry Street, Burlington. A reception will follow in the church hall to give time for relatives and friends to meet with the family. Private interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
