LYDIA LIEPELT

      Lydia Liepelt, 96, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

Lydia was born in Tarnowo, Poland on Oct. 1, 1926, to August and Emilie (nee Henke) Geisler. Her early life was spent in Poland, and she moved to Germany in 1946. On April 29, 1956, she immigrated to the United States where she met her future husband, Gerhard Liepelt. They returned to Germany to get married and resided in Chicago after marriage. She moved to Wisconsin in 1992 after her husband passed away on May 13, 1989.

Lydia worked in the food industry and enjoyed gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Lydia is survived by her children, Angie (Paul) Jensen and Juergen (Debbie) Liepelt; grandchildren, Bob (Katie), Jason, Jennifer (Garrison), Brian, Kaitlyn (Jimmie), Kourtney and Kyle (Jess); great-grandchildren, Stella, Maverick, Cohen, Adelaide, Landon and Cora; and sister, Elli. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings.

The family would like to thank the nurses at St. Luke’s 10th Floor Cardiac Unit, along with the entire staff at Arbor Village for their past 11 years of love and support.

A private family service for Lydia will be held. Burial will take place at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.
