PETER J. POHLMAN

Peter J. Pohlman, 87, of Burlington, went to be with God on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, with his family by his side. Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan on July 11, 1936, he was the son of Carl and Burnetta (nee Nentwig) Pohlman. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and High School.

Peter was a field agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance for forty years. He belonged to St. Peter and Paul Elementary and High School Athletic Association, Nouvel Catholic Central High School Athletic Association, American Legion #439 and Knights of Columbus #4232, where he was financial secretary from 2004 to 2008. Pete was elected into the Saginaw Catholic School Hall of Fame in 1992. He was often seen mowing, striping and caring for the football fields. For thirty years he ran the clock for St. Peter and Paul and Nouvel Catholic Central football teams home games.

In 1961, Pete married Judith Perrot. She survives him. They have three wonderful children, P. Matthew (Cheryl) Pohlman, Anne (Meggan Denny) Pohlman and Ellen (Donald) Maday; and four special grandchildren, Kaleigh (Marco) Blise, Mackenzie Pohlman, Samuel Maday and Thomas Maday. His parents and siblings are deceased, Carl Pohlman, Frances (John) Coughlin and Michael (Susan Schachtner) Pohlman. Joann Roenicke Pohlman survives him. There are many loving nieces, nephews and friends that have helped to make his life better.

Pete has lived in the memory care unit at Oak Park Place for four years. He has received loving care and we give them thanks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Programs, especially weekly Catholic mass and services, at Oak Park Place or to Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery for wreaths.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Burlington. Visitation was held on Saturday, Aug. 12 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Pete will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in a private family service at a later date.
