PHILIP A. LARSON

      Philip A. Larson, 93, of Burlington, passed away on Sept. 18, 2023, at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

Philip was born on April 14, 1930, to Albert and Mary (nee Jackley) Larson. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School. He was a lifelong resident of Burlington.

On Jan. 27, 1951, Philip married his high school sweetheart Romayne Kessler. He was employed by Burlington Police Department, Sears in Burlington and Southridge. He attended MATC, studied Horology. He became a Master Clocksmith. Philip opened Fox River Clock Shop, where he serviced many timepieces, specialized in cuckoo, grandfather and antique clocks, for over 30 years. He has been involved with St. Mary’s Church. He was a member and president of the Burlington Optimist Club. His hobbies include fishing, bird watching, cribbage, watching the Packers and Brewers. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making birdhouses. Favorite times were enjoyed with his family and friends.

Philip is survived by his wife Romayne; children, Peggy (Dennis) Kelly, Julee (Peter) Scherrer, Kathy (David) Spiegelhoff, Jo (Ken Gardener) Poudrier; his grandchildren, Amy Kelly, Adam Kelly (Aimee Garcia), Kyle Kelly, Jeremy (Jamie) Larson, Rebecca (Ty) Faust, Leslie (Brian) Pella, Chris (Melissa) Larson, Brittney Christensen, Libby (Sam) Middleton, Justin (Kristen) Spiegelhoff, Abby (Tyler) Galstad, Michael (Madalyn) Spiegelhoff, Anna Bassett and Emma Bassett; 23 great-grandchildren; his sister Virginia Weber, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Philip was proceeded in death by his parents; son Scott Larson; son-in-law, Roger Poudrier; and siblings, Edward, Loretta, Bernice, Stanley, Mary Jane and Carl.

In lieu of flowers Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Church.

The family would like to thank Chuck Dawson and Philip’s fishing buddies for the many hours spent fishing on Lake Geneva.

Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, from 10 a.m. until noon.
