BEVERLY J. STANG

Beverly J. Stang, 87, lifelong resident of Burlington, passed away to eternal life on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

She was born on Oct. 31, 1936 in Burlington, daughter to the late Earl B. and Alice (van Bolhuis) Bartholf. Bev had four children with her former husband and later married Richard (Dick) C. Stang on Jan. 21, 1999. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2011.

Bev loved her family and became a devoted Christian. She worked for Winkler’s Sentry Food Store for over 30 years. For ten years after retirement, she and Dick spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona, where they enjoyed the weather and being close to her beloved sister, Shirley.

Some of Bev’s favorite memories were of time spent with family and trips to Birchwood, fishing on Lake Chetac. She’ll be remembered for her love of animals, specifically, the many dogs she had over the years.

Beverly is survived by her children, Brenda (Ken Given) Koenen, Craig (Kit) Severson, Scott (Jeanne) Severson all of Burlington, and Todd (the late Michele) Severson of Rosholt. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, former husband Larry Severson, other relatives and many friends. Bev is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter-in-law, brother Donald Bartholf, and sister Shirley Thomas.

She was laid to rest next to her husband Dick at the Springfield Union Cemetery in Lyons, on Monday, June 24, 2024 with a private family service.
