Carl Alfred Mahnke, 90, of Waterford, passed away on Jan. 30, 2024, surrounded by his family including the love of his life and wife of 66 years, Marjorie “Marge” (nee Albaugh) Mahnke. He is further survived by his children, Debbie (Bruce) Ranke, Carl (Tanya) Mahnke, Lindy (Mark) Lenard, Laura (Keith) Skully, and Jim (Michelle) Mahnke; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Carl was born to Gordon and Margaret Mahne on Jan. 13, 1934, in Portage. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956, where he met Marge, a Registered Nurse, at a USO dance in Berkely, California. After a long career working for General Motors, Carl turned his life to one of service and was ordained as a Permanent Deacon of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Carl was known for his love of God and making people smile. He enjoyed Marriage Encounter, cooking, gardening, square dancing, and cards and games.
Services have been held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Faith Community in Waterford.
