Charlene Mills, 73, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2024 at Pine Brook Pointe in Burlington.
Born on Nov. 3, 1950, in Highland Park, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Carolyn (DeBartolo) Mills. At the age of two, the family moved to Kansasville, where Charlene attended Pleasant Lawn Grade School and Union Grove Union High School. She also attended UW Platteville and graduated from UW Milwaukee with a Comparative Literature degree. She worked as a writer and copy editor for Quad Graphics, Manpower, and was a freelance writer with Milwaukee Magazine.
Charlene has been a resident of Burlington for the last ten years. She enjoyed reading and playing Bridge at the Senior Center. She was very talented when it came to sewing quilts. She has rescued many cats over the years.
Charlene is survived by her cats Meeto and Tosca; her three siblings, Christine (Tim) O’Brien, Corinne (Jerome) Herro and Eugene (Mary) Mills; her nieces and nephews, Collin (Arianne) O’Brien, Conner O’Brien, Luke (Maddy) Herro, James (Liz) Herro, Seth (Cecelia) Mills, Kelsey (Tom) Kolkau, and Trenton Mills; and great nieces and nephews, Sloane, Cormac, Seamus, Luca, Orianna and Lanetta.
The family of Charlene would like to thank the nurses and staff at Pine Brook Pointe for all of their care and compassion.
