CHARLES EUGENE LANCASTER III

      Charles Eugene Lancaster III, 73, of Walnut Grove, California passed away peacefully at the U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after a battle with cancer.

Charles was born in Albuquerque to Colonel Charles and Vera Seng Lancaster Jr. on Feb. 26, 1951.

Charles‘s father was career Air Force, so the family traveled extensively, but finally settled in Burlington when Charles was in second grade. Charles graduated from Burlington High School in 1969 and was the awarded athlete of the year during his senior year. He also earned the prestigious Eagle Scout badge that same year from the Boy Scouts of America.

After high school, he attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He then went on to earn his Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Denver. Charles had a successful career in real estate and business consulting. He had many interests and hobbies, was an avid reader, loved his flower gardens, and was a devoted golfer.

Charles was the finance chairman for Saint Anthony’s Church in Walnut Grove and assisted many activities for the Rotary Club of Walnut Grove.

Charles is survived by a very loving family, which includes his beloved wife Julie Lancaster, his children and grandchildren which include Alicia and Ben Huseth with Mirabel and Colton, William and Lea Lancaster with Ayden and Alivia, Alex and Autumn Lancaster with Croix, Juddah, and Ani.

Charles had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews who love him and will miss his laughter and levity. He is survived by his siblings, Sharon Boldt of Mill Valley, California, Charlene Kacena of Venice, Florida, and Stephanie Foreman and her husband Fred Foreman of Gurnee, Illinois.

A memorial service is planned on Oct. 12, 2024 in Rochester, Minnesota at the Willow Creek Golf Course. Donations can be made in Charles’s name to the U.C. Davis Cancer Center.
