EDWARD R. CUDDEBACK

Edward R. Cuddeback, 72, of Waterford, passed away Oct. 28, 2024 in Milwaukee.

Ed was born on June 16, 1952, in Milwaukee, to the late Robert L. and Martha J. (nee Miller) Cuddeback. He grew up in Muskego and graduated from Muskego HS in 1970. He lived in Muskego, Oak Creek then finally in Waterford for the past 46 years.

Ed attended UW Milwaukee for a period of time, then transitioned to being a tool grinder, tool and die maker, then finally a high-end remodeling carpenter. Ed married the love of his life, Cheryl “Cherie” Ehleiter on Oct. 2, 1971.

Ed was a member of the Southeastern Wisconsin German Shorthaired Pointer Club for many years, competing and then judging field trials. He was involved in Boy Scout Troop 324 in Waterford for many years in numerous positions.

In his younger years Ed was an avid hunter and loved grouse, pheasant and deer hunting. He was a voracious reader and timed himself when doing sudoku puzzles. His passion for gardening was tremendous, picking out the best tomato plants, planting and of course the harvesting of those tomatoes. Ed and Cherie just recently had their last BLT with those tomatoes and of course Held’s bacon which was Ed’s favorite. Ed loved to bake. His specialty was grandpa bread, which was any bread that he baked. He loved to cook. Planning family meals for special occasions was one of his greatest joys. He loved menu planning, shopping for the ingredients and getting the best deals while he was at it, and then of course the making of the food, and eating. Ed always made extras for leftovers.

Ed had his quirks, one of which was his varying beards, mustaches, and length of his hair. He was a music lover of all sorts, blues and rock being top of the list. His pride and joy was his bright yellow Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Ed had a deep heart, and loved his family beyond words. He couldn’t have been more proud of his children, Nichole and Bobby, and his five grandsons.

He was ours. Bless you and we will miss you always.

Ed is survived by Cherie, his wife of 53 wonderful years; his daughter Nichole (Dave) Reiner and their children Jacob, Daniel and Benjamin Reiner; and his son Robert “Bob” (KaBao Lee) Cuddeback and their children Maxwell and Owen Cuddeback. He is also survived by his sister Jean (Randy) Hendrickson and their children, Andrea (Cyprien) Bechler, and Matthew (Rosemary) Hendrickson; his in-laws James (Janis Ehleiter), Patricia Fritchen, Mary (Gary Miller), John Ehleiter, Edward Ehleiter (Jennifer Stray), and Jesse (Brenda) Ehleiter; nieces and nephews Allen (Katrina) Ehleiter, Ryan (Jessie) Fritchen, Crystal (Heath) Hallada, Joey Miller, Callie Miller (Blake Hallada), and Addison, Casey, and Brady Ehleiter; and great nieces and nephews Beau and Fawn Hallada, Shaye and Siena Hallada, Aspen Fritchen; Aliénor, Aloïs and Theo Bechler, and Guinevere and Augustus Hendrickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Cuddeback, his youngest sister Joan Cuddeback, and nephew Michael Hendrickson, and his in-laws Dean and Mary Ehleiter.
