Enrique “Henry” Benavides, 86, of Waterford, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2024, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on Feb. 25, 1938, in Crystal City, Texas, to Enrique and Senovia (nee Ramon) Benavides. In 1955, Henry and his family relocated from Eagle Pass, Texas, to the Waterford area, where he would meet the love of his life, Sally Tindall, whom he married and cherished for 63 years.
Henry attended Waterford High School, where he distinguished himself as a standout athlete in multiple sports, particularly excelling in football, which earned him a scholarship to UW-Stout. Upon returning to Waterford, Henry and his brother Oscar established a successful concrete construction company. Over the next five decades, they expanded their business across the Midwest, leaving a lasting legacy of hard work and dedication.
However, Henry’s greatest joy was his family. He delighted in supporting his children and grandchildren in their numerous activities and sporting events. Additionally, family vacations, especially their trips to Mexico, held a special place in his heart, where he created cherished memories with his loved ones.
Henry will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sally; loving children, Rick (Jeanne) and Becky (Peter); grandchildren, Molly (David) and Fred; brother, Johnny; sister, Patsy (John); sisters-in-law, Donna and Karen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Hector and Oscar; sister-in-law Jean; and nephews, Timmy and Tommy.
Henry will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also, for his unwavering love and dedication to his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
