Florence Catherine Bogyos, 97, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Racine, February 24, 1927, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (nee Dugas) Caynak.
On February 4, 1950, Florence was united in marriage to Frank Steven Bogyos. After raising her children, she went back to school and became a licensed practical nurse and was employed at Lakeland Hospital, Elkhorn. Florence was an excellent homemaker and will forever be remembered for her Christmas fudge and friendship bread. She had a great love of reading, especially mysteries, was an avid Packer fan and occasionally yet enthusiastically engaged with many “one arm bandits” as she traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe with her son, a pilot.
She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed by her husband, Frank of 74 years; children, Julie (Dennis) Ricchio, Frank (Lorraine) Bogyos, and Cathy Erikson; grandchildren, Ann Ricchio, Angela Ricchio and Brandon Bogyos; great granddaughter, Sahana Beri; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings and her son-in-law, Tim Erikson.

Funeral Services celebrating Florence’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 40 Ohio St., Racine, with Rev. Jenny Gleichauf officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to meet for Visitation on Thursday, 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Memorials to Covenant Presbyterian Church have been suggested.
