Frances M. Mainus, 84, of Waterford, passed away at home from cancer on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024.
Fran was born Dec. 3, 1939 on the Twin Silo Farm in Waterford, the daughter of the late John William and Stella (nee Czapowski) Schmidt. She attended St. Thomas Graded School and graduated from Waterford Union High School.
Fran married Stanley J. Mainus at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Oct. 9, 1965. She became a cosmetologist after high school, working at various salons throughout her career. She was also a teacher’s aide at St. Thomas Aquinas Graded School and then at Waterford Union High School. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and of the Holy Sewers. Fran was involved in 4H with her sons and became the general leader for The Norway 4H Club.
Fran is survived by her sons Steve of Muskego and Tom (Dawn) of Waterford; granddaughter Courtney (Curtis) Schwab of Delafield; siblings Betty Felten, Jim (Pam) Schmidt, Rosie (Russ) Storm, and Rick Schmidt; in-laws Randy Storm and Barbara Schmidt; along with other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law Mary (Lufkin) Mainus; siblings Barb Saltzmann, Sharon Storm and Jerry Schmidt; and brothers-in-law Marv Saltzmann and Don Felton.
Memorial visitation will be held 1 until 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. 1st. Street, Waterford, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Church would be appreciated.
