GERALD ANTHONY KNUTOWSKI

Gerard Anthony “G-Rodd” Knutowski, 78, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Oct. 9, 2024. Born on Jan. 2, 1946, Gerard lived a full and vibrant life marked by his many passions and the deep connections he forged with those around him.

Gerard will be remembered as a legendary fisherman. He cherished his times on the many lakes he would frequent with Barb, family and friends. He adored his time at the beach with his grandchildren, and visiting his sons in Naples, Florida. He enjoyed dancing to Motown and listening to his favorite tunes. An avid golfer, he spent many happy hours at Pinehurst in North Carolina and Rivermoor in Waterford. Gerard’s love for gardening, watering his flowers and lawn, and his famous fish fry, left lasting memories with all who knew him. He was a regular at local supper clubs, enjoying the good company and food.

A proud graduate of Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee, he was a standout basketball star and player, and relished in those memories on the court. Gerard’s early life was filled with adventures and experiences that shaped his robust character. His career began at the family-owned Knutowski Meats Meat Market, a West Allis staple where he worked alongside his father and brothers. The meat market was more than just a place of business. It was a gathering spot for friends and family. In 1988, Gerard transitioned to Quad Graphics, where he advanced to management and formed lifelong friendships during his over 20 years there.

Gerard completed basic training in the US Army and served in the reserves, an experience that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie and equipped him with skills that would influence his disciplined approach to life and work. His love for sports was unparalleled. He was a die-hard fan of the Packers, Bucks, and Badgers, never missing a game and always ready to share the excitement with his family, especially his wife and children. He treasured moments with his sons watching Wisconsin sports.

Gerard leaves behind his beloved wife, Barbara, whom he loved fiercely and protected dearly since their marriage on July 19, 2003. He is also survived by his children Todd, Nicole (Joe), Jason (Jenny) and Ryan; stepchildren Joshua (Breanna) and Jessica; grandchildren Stephanie, Katelyn, Nicole, Audrey, Kaz, Brett, Margaret and Mauriana; step-grandchildren Mikhail, Jenalee, Evelyn, Sawyer, and Thomas, our angel in Heaven; siblings Beverly, Ronald, Mary and Raymond; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Bernice (Bunny), and brothers Thomas and Joseph.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2024 at Daniels Funeral Home, with a service from 1 until 2:30 p.m., followed by service at Burlington Cemetery.

Gerard’s life was one of joy, laughter, and love, deeply touching all who were part of his journey. His legacy will be cherished and remembered by his extensive family, countless friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
