JERALD L. REAVIS

Jerald L. Reavis, 85, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his home.

Born in East Peoria, Illinois on Dec. 8, 1938, he was the son of Milo and Marie (nee Weidman) Reavis. His early life was spent in Burlington, where he graduated from Burlington area schools. On June 23, 1962 in Black River Falls, he was united in marriage to Marion Soukup. He served three years in the US Army, serving 18 months in Korea.

Jerry worked as a meat manager and was a member of St. Mary Parish. He spent his entire working life in the retail meat business. Besides cutting meat by day, when November came you could see Jerry and his partner, Tom, cutting deer for hunters in the garage. The days were long, but it’s been said there was a lot of joking around and tall tales told. After retirement, Jerry worked part time at Reineman’s.

On June 23rd, Jerry would have celebrated his 62nd wedding anniversary. He was a loving husband and father, so proud of his three daughters.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Marion; children, Connie (Barry) DeKemper, Donna (Robert) Haraden and Cindy Reavis; grandchildren, Aaron (Joni) Tylavsky, Brittany (Nathan White) Tylavsky, Collin Haraden, Carlie (Sam) Picchietti, Sara (Tim) Schryver and Elizabeth (Josh Barreras) DeKemper; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Jacob, Charlotte, Stella, Aidyn, and Luke; and brother, Gary (Sue) Reavis. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beverly Landsness and Barbara (Ted) Lightfield, and brothers Robert Reavis and James Reavis.

The family would like to thank Father James Volkert for being there when needed by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Parish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 28 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Other relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, June 28 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will follow Mass at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
