Joan T. Breski, 92, of Wheatland and Burlington, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at Oak Park Place in Burlington.
Joan was born in Burlington on Oct. 15, 1931, to Edward and Lucy (nee Smitz) Toelle. Her early life was spent in Wheatland. She graduated from St. Mary High School and a business college in Milwaukee. In Aug. of 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Breski Jr. Following marriage, they made Wheatland their home. Paul preceded her in death on May 20, 1995.
Joan was a homemaker but worked at Downey’s prior to starting her family. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and served in the choir. She also belonged to a bridge club, a homemaker’s club and a bowling league in Burlington. In her younger years, she played piano and clarinet and twirled baton. She enjoyed raising her family, loved her dogs and watching her soap operas.
Joan is survived by her children, Dorothy (Mark) Disrud, Susan (Mark) Schmidt, Sandra (Matthias Ermel) Oldenburg, John (Rene) Breski and Karen (Andy) Bonczkowski; grandchildren, Emily, Justin, Ryan, Matthew, Stephanie, Ashley, Rachel, Samantha, Zachary, Johnathan and Britanny; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Ray, Maryann and Charles.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joan will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church in New Munster. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6. Joan will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
