Kathleen McLaughlin, 91, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at her home.
Born in Milwaukee on April 25, 1933, she was the daughter of Joseph and Cecelia (nee Gaitens) Ellmaurer. Her early life was spent in Milwaukee, where she graduated from Holy Angels Grade School and Messmer High School. On Sept. 18, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert McLaughlin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1979. On Aug. 31, 1991, she was united in marriage to Joseph Grgula. He preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 2001. She was a resident of Milwaukee until 1991 and a resident of Burlington since 1991.
Kathleen worked as a stenographer for the Morrison Company and later worked for Lakeview Hospital, Process Displays, Butler Tile and Spiegelhoff’s. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Elm Grove and attended St. Charles Church. She cleaned at the monastery, sewed vestments for clergy and did gardening and basket weaving. She also enjoyed watching and feeding the birds.
Kathleen is survived by her children, Sheila (Allan) McDonell, Rob (Cheryl) McLaughlin, Ellismarie McLaughlin, Brian (Kathleen) McLaughlin and Kevin (Jill) McLaughlin; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Lederer, April McDonell, R.J. (Quinda) McLaughlin, Christopher McLaughlin, Jing Anne McLaughlin, Angela McLaughlin and Aidan McLaughlin; and sisters, Barbara Ellmaurer and Joanne (Jerry) Szablewski. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.
The family would like to thank Burlington Hospital and Aurora at Home Hospice nurses and staff for their care, compassion and patience.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish.
Services for Kathleen will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place following the service at 3 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
