Larry R. Preston, 65, of East Troy, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 at his home.
Larry was born in Ladysmith on Jan. 2, 1959, to Walter and Olinda (nee Ottum) Preston. His early life was spent in the Ladysmith and Chetek area, where he graduated from Ladysmith High School. On March 1, 2018 in Elkhorn, he was united in marriage to Sharon (nee Woyak) Northcutt. Following marriage, they resided in Elkhorn before moving to East Troy in 2021.
Larry worked as a truck driver for a gravel company. He attended East Troy Bible Church. He was an author and published a book titled “Maestro” and wrote many songs. He enjoyed singing at church and was a very talented guitar player.
Larry is survived by his son, Philip Preston; wife, Sharon and her children, David (Rebecca) Northcutt, Clinton Northcutt and Travis Northcutt; granddaughter, Raegan; siblings, Nancy (Bill) Meyer, Sandra Lemmons and Arden (Jill) Preston; and sister-in-law, Sharon Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason and siblings, Marjorie Groff, Jerome Preston and June Olson.
A memorial service for Larry will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow service until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Marengo City Cemetery in Marengo, Illinois, at a later date.
