Laurel E. Schrader, 93, of Rochester, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Lakeland Healthcare Nursing Home.
Born in Burlington on March 18, 1930, he was the son of Merle and Florence (nee Heublein) Schrader. He attended Pleasant View Graded School and graduated from Rochester Agricultural School. Laurel served two years in the Korean War. He was a radio communications operator. He did his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Laurel farmed his whole life on a dairy farm in Rochester Township with his brother Wayne, as “Schrader Brothers”. He enjoyed fishing and spending his time on the family farm, which has been in the Schrader family since 1851.
Laurel is survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Schrader; and nephews, Gary (Terri) Schrader and Dean (Julie) Schrader. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Schrader.
The family would like to suggest that any memorials made in Laurel’s name go to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
A private burial will take place at Rochester Cemetery at a later date.
