LeROY W. STOEHR

      LeRoy W. Stoehr, 101 and three quarters, of Burlington, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at Pine Brook Pointe in Burlington.

Roy was born in Lyons on March 17, 1923, and was the son of William and Julia Stoehr. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1940. During World War II, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served for over three years, spending most of the time in the South Pacific and China. He participated in the Honor Flight to visit the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. He is a lifetime member of the Burlington VFW Post 2823.

Roy married Joyce Tauscher at St. Mary Church in Burlington, with Monsignor Kersting officiating on May 17, 1947. Joyce preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2020. They were married 72 years and enjoyed many fine trips and good times in Milwaukee, dancing to the Big Bands style of music.

Roy was an employee at Burlington Brass Works as sales manager for many years, Easterday Office Equipment & Supply of Racine and M & I Bank in Burlington. In retirement, he volunteered at the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Burlington Tele-Care and Mount Carmel Care Center. He served as a board member on Riverview Manor Housing Authority and was a greeter at Aurora Memorial Hospital.

Roy is survived by his children, William (Mary Kay) Stoehr of Boulder, Colorado, Debra (Denny) Dean of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Dan (Kacey) Stoehr of Burlington and Linda (Bob) Menzia of Oak Creek; grandchildren, Gregory Stoehr, Kelly and Derek Dean, Sarah Josing, Kevin Spitzer, Adam and Jack Ketterhagen and Grace Menzia; great-grandchildren, Brett and Jordan Josing, Lydia Spitzer, Wyatt Stoehr, Emmie Dean and Christopher Ketterhagen and Xavier. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leora Bollwahn, and daughter Julie and her husband John Spitzer.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Gentiva Hospice for their care during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.

Services for Roy will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery following the service.
