MARGUERITE LUTH

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marguerite Luth, 82, of Waterford. Marge passed peacefully at home on Oct. 18, 2024.

Marge was born in Chicago, the daughter of Donald Sr. and Ethel (Kauffman) Olson. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School in 1960 and went on to Carthage College. There, she met her beloved husband, Bil. After graduating summa cum laude from Carthage, Marge taught 7th grade in Racine and then taught English at Carthage. After having children, she became the Lead Teacher and Director of the Red Balloon Nursery School in Paddock Lake, where she worked for 25 years. Over the years, she touched the hearts and minds of the hundreds of children that she taught.

After her retirement, Marge and Bil moved to Garibaldi, Oregon where they lived for 12 years. She enjoyed walking along the ocean beaches, and especially loved sharing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with her children and grandchildren whenever they visited.

Marge’s Christian faith was strong throughout her life. Along with her husband Bil she attended Christ Lutheran Church in Paddock Lake, St. Peter Lutheran in Tillamook, Oregon, and most recently Bethlehem Lutheran in Muskego. Marge loved to sing, and shared her beautiful singing voice in church choirs, at Carthage and in various community choruses.

One of Marge’s greatest joys was her family. She created many happy memories for her three children including family vacations, game nights and day trips to the library or a local park. When her grandchildren were born, she was excited to take an active role in their lives. Marge was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, a passion she shared with her son. One of her most treasured moments was when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016, something her own parents never got to see in their lifetimes.

Marge is survived by her husband William “Bil” Luth, her children Jennifer Dykstra, David (Hilary) Luth and Megan (Scott) Watkins; grandchildren Tyler (Laura) Johnson, Grace Dykstra, Maggie Dykstra and Owen Luth; step-grandchildren Ashley Watkins, Natalie Logan and Jeremiah Logan; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Donald Olson Sr., and her twin brother Donald Olson Jr.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home in Burlington. The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Muskego, with visitation from noon until the start of the service. A luncheon will follow at the church. A private internment will be held for family at Burlington Cemetery on a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations to Lutheran World Relief are encouraged.
