Mary Kay Forbes, 79, of Burlington, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center-Burlington.
Mary Kay was born in Burlington on Dec. 13, 1944, the daughter of Alvin and Mary Agnes (nee O’Neill) Forbes. She spent her whole life in Burlington, attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School.
Mary Kay was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. She was a huge animal lover who had many pets including a service dog named Macy that she took to many of the assisted living centers to bring cheer to the residents. They would even go to the public library to visit the children. Mary Kay also loved babysitting for her friends’ children and attending many of their activities.
Mary Kay is survived by her brothers, William (Lois) Forbes and James Forbes; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Don) Brovick, Michael (Megan Gardner) Forbes, Tracy Forbes, and Scott Forbes; as well as great nieces and nephews, Jordan Brovick, Madison Brovick, and McKinley Forbes. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions made in Mary Kay’s name be made to Lakeland Animal Shelter, St. Charles Borromeo Church or Love Inc.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Aurora Medical Center in Burlington for all of their care and support, as well as her many friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Kay will be on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington with Fr. Ryan Ackmann Officiating. Inurnment will take place following Mass at St. Charles Cemetery.
